This is only the second time we have ever seen an example of this card. It is part of a previously uncatalogued set that will be included in the next edition of the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide. The set is a gorgeous
team issue of Hiroshima Carp players which contains striking player images, facsimile autographs and advertising at the bottom. As you would expect, any card that includes a Fuji Color Film ad at the bottom like this one does, would have a super
sharp and clear image. The back contains Manabu Kitabeppu's biographical data and vital statistics, along with a Fujica camera ad. Kitabeppu was the pitching ace of the powerful Hiroshima Carp teams of the 1970s and 1980s. By the
time he retired in 1994, he had won 213 games with only 141 losses. During his career, Kitabeppu won three Sawamura (Japan Cy Young) awards and a Central League MVP award. If you are collecting type cards, or Hall of Famer cards,
this lot certainly fills the bill.
