Koshien, he starred at Waseda U. from 1929 to 1932, bewildering opponents with his fastball and "drop ball". After college, he continued his association with amateur baseball, shunning the "corrupt" idea of playing professionally He was
elected to the Japan Hall of Fame in 1981.
