During the 1950s, Nakanishi was the most feared slugger in the Pacific League. After winning the league Rookie of the Year award in 1952, he went on to lead the P.L. in homers in five out of six seasons between 1953 and 1958.
Nakanishi signed this ball in black marker. In the panel shown at upper left of the image, he signed his name in Japanese. In the panel shown at upper right, he wrote "Nishitetsu Lions". In the lower left panel, he inscribed, "Every day is new." in Japanese. In the lower
right panel, he personalized the autograph, "To Yasuda-san" below his uniform number "6".
