This postcard was originally bound into an issue of Shonen Club Magazine. This is the first example of this postcard that we have ever encountered. Based on the rough hand cuts across the top and down the left side, we would assume that the card was originally bound to the magazine at the top, and that this postcard was originally one of a pair, with the other postcard appearing to the left of the Kawakami PC. Kawakami, the "God of Batting", was the premier hitter in Japan Pro Baseball during the 1940s and 50s before becoming Yomiuri Giants manager and leading the team to nine consecutive Japan Series championships. Kawakami is shown wearing a Yomiuri Giants uniform that was used only during the 1951 and 1952 seasons. The autograph appearing on the postcard is a facsimile. Unused.
