A sugoroku is a large sheet of newsprint type paper which is used like a game board. Each segment is similar to a "square" in many American board games. Every player has a piece that is moved around the sugoroku from square to
square, according to the results of dice rolls. Nearly all images found on other sugoroku are cartoon designs. This sugoroku is different in that the imagery consists of 12 large photos of Chunichi Dragons players. Each member of the
1950 Dragons is pictured in one or more photos. Japan Hall of Fame members seen on this piece include Michio Nishizawa, Shigeru Sugishita, Shunichi Amachi and Michinori Tsubouchi.
Size: 30" x 22"
Condition: Sugoroku were always issued in a folded state. In this case, there are a few minor tears and chips along the various fold lines. Also, there are tiny pieces missing at the upper and lower left corners. The color and images
remain very sharp.
