Dick Kashiwaeda, a native of Kauai, is generally considered to be among the top third basemen ever to come out of Hawaii. After a stellar career in the islands, he moved on to the Yomiuri Giants as a 28-year-old, batting .341 in his rookie year
(1953). After an off year in 1954, he bounced back in 1955 to hit .336. Unfortunately, he injured his arm early in 1956 and was forced to retire from Japan Pro Baseball. The wonderful head and shoulders shot on the card front captures
Kashiwaeda during his first and most productive season.
