This rare card features the battery for the Waseda University team of 1930. Hall of Famer Masao Date is featured here with Shoichiro Tase. From 1928 to 1932 Date, shown here as a catcher, starred for Waseda U. first as a catcher and
then as a pitcher. In his freshman year, he hit a whopping .469 to capture the Big Six batting title. Tase participated in the 1931 U.S. All Star Tour of Japan, while Date played in both the 1931 and 1934 U.S. Tours. The JBR 32 set has
been assigned a scarcity factor of R5 in the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 2.1 by Gary Engel, indicating that five or fewer copies of this card are known to exist. Blank backed.
