In 1925, Yamashita hit the first home run ever in the National High School Baseball Championships at Koshien. From 1927 to 1930, Yamashita starred at Keio U., participating on four Big Six League championship clubs. His six career homers was a record at that time. No wonder he was known as "Babe" Yamashita! After playing for the 1931 and 1934 Japan All Star teams that faced players such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Lefty Grove, etc., Yamashita joined Japan Pro Baseball for the inaugural season of 1936. Not surprisingly, he led the league in home runs. There are two cards of Yamashita in the set. This is the card with menko number 9113 on the back.
