Following the 1984 season, the Baltimore Orioles traveled to Japan for a series of 14 games, mostly against the Hiroshima Carp and Yomiuri Giants. The Orioles won 8, lost 5 and tied 1. Cal Ripken, Jr. and Eddie Murray led the Orioles contingent. Neither disappointed during the series with Murray batting .367 with nine homers, and Ripken batting .315 with four dingers. Larry Sheets was the hitting star for the Birds, batting .400, which may have helped him to earn a contract with the Taiyo Whales later in his career. Nate Snell led the pitching staff with four wins while fashioning a 1.08 ERA. The tie bar featured in this lot commemorates that Tour. The front features the Baltimore Orioles team name in English and team logo. The back has " '84 Japan-U.S. Baseball" inscribed on the back in Japanese.
