While there were several late 1940s menko sets issued in uncut sheet form, JCM 48 was not one of them. Therefore this sheet must have been pulled from production before the individual cards were cut. Thus, the winning bidder has the rare opportunity to own an uncut JCM 48 sheet. While there are 86 known card fronts in JCM 48, there are only 20 backs. The names and images of the players printed on the back in this set have no relation to the player depicted on the front. However, this is one of the few menko sets with the player names printed in English (although often misspelled)!
Japan Hall of Fame members depicted on card fronts on this sheet are Kaoru Betto (rookie card), Tetsuharu Kawakami, Fumio Fujimura, Michio Nishizawa and Shigeru Chiba. Hall of Famers depicted on card backs are Kaoru Betto, Tetsuharu Kawakami, Hiroshi Oshita, Tokuji Iida, Takehiko Bessho and Fumio Fujimura. Eight of the 12 cards feature a Hall of Famer on the front or back, or on both sides.
Size: Each card is 1 7/16" x 2 7/8". The sheet is 5 3/4" x 8 5/8".
