Just as the T-206, 1933 Goudey and 1952 Topps sets are cornerstones of vintage American baseball card collecting, the 1959 Hoshi Gangu set of 20 cards is one of the foundations of the vintage Japanese baseball card hobby. Delivered to vendors loose in boxes, these cards were then sold individually to collectors. Numerous classic Japanese Hall of Fame members are represented in the set. In this lot we have Shigeo Nagashima--two cards including a combo card with 400 game winner Masaichi Kaneda, Katsuya Nomura (second all time in career home runs with 657) sharing a card with HOF pitcher Motoshi Fujita, Kazuhisa Inao (3 diff.), Tatsuro Hirooka, Tadashi Sugiura, Yasumitsu Toyoda and Yoshio Yoshida. In other words, 10 of the 17 cards represented here feature at least one HOFer. An additional card depicts Hawaiian great, Andy Miyamoto. Unfortunately, one of the three missing cards from this lot is the rookie card of Sadaharu Oh. Also missing are the cards of Nakanishi and Mori. The condition of the cards in this lot is superb. All cards are virtually "fresh out of the box", with virtually the only flaws being imperfect centering.

Size: Each card is 1 5/16" x 2 5/8".

Condition: All cards are Nm/Mt or Mint, many with imperfect centering, which is typical for the issue.
