Based on the players who signed the ball and the uniform numbers they wrote, the ball could have been signed in either 1976 or 1977. Wally Yonamine (Hawaii) (d. 2011) was the American who transformed Japanese baseball during the 1950s. The Japan Hall of Fame member and former San Francisco 49ers running back was managing the Chunichi Dragons at the time this baseball was signed. Kenichi Yazawa (Golden Player) (lower left signature) was the Dragons' most productive hitter of the 1970s. A lifetime .302 hitter, he was named 1967 Central League Rookie of the Year, and won the batting title with a .355 average in 1976. The third player to sign the ball was pitcher Yukitsura Matsumoto (lower right signature), a three time all star during his years with the Dragons.
