We don't recall seeing more than one or two other copies of this card in the past. It is undoubtedly scarce, as are most B&W menko from 1959. By that time, color menko had eclipsed black and white menko in popularity, and as a result, sales of black and white menko sagged.
1959 was Nagashima's second year in Japan Pro Baseball. In 1959 he followed up his spectacular Rookie of the Year season by leading the Central League in batting at .334 while swatting 27 homers.
