Written by Japan Hall of Famer, Kenzo Hirose, this is one of the seminal books on Japanese baseball. The first 238 pages of this "coffee table" book consist entirely of slick paper photo graphics. There are over 1,000 black & white photos with captions covering the history of Japanese baseball from the 1800s until 1964. The early teams, the Big Six U. era, Japan Pro Baseball and all of the US Tours of Japan are covered pictorially. Everyone from Babe Ruth to Jackie Robinson to Victor Starffin to Sadaharu Oh is depicted here. Most photos of U.S. players were taken in Japan and are not commonly seen in the U.S. There are also 250 pages of Japanese text, including a very informative section of rosters, game results and details of games, including many U.S. Japan Tours. Hardbound with cardboard slipcover. First edition.

Size: 8 1/2" x 12". 488 pages. Over 1,000 photos.

Condition: The book is Nm. The slip cover is Ex/Mt.
