In November 1928, Ty Cobb traveled to Japan with a few other Major Leaguers including Bob Shawkey and Herb Hunter. They were invited to Japan by the Mainichi Newspaper to play 12 games with the Daimai team.
Offered here is a collection of four original photographs from this early historic tour. The group photo includes: Ty Cobb, Ernie Quigley (Umpire), Isoo Abe (Japanese HOFer), Herb Hunter, Bob Shawkey and an identified man wearing a suit.
The three photographs with Japanese text on the reverse are slightly thicker than the photographs without the text. The photograph of Ty Cobb batting against Waseda University is dated November 26, 1928 on the reverse.
Size: Each photo is 6" x 4 5/8".
Condition: Overall Ex/Mt with some slight chipping.
