Konishi (1896-1977) was an outfielder for Meiji University in the second decade of the 20th century. However, his greatest fame came from being a Japan Pro Baseball manager, umpire and announcer. In 1950 he won the Central League pennant as manager of the Shochiku Robins, but lost the first modern Japan Series to the Mainichi Orions. In 1955 he began a long and successful broadcasting baseball for the NHK network and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971. This card is uncatalogued and has no indication as to the maker. Konishi cards are seldom seen because his playing career ended before the first Japanese baseball cards were produced. This is an opportunity to own a card of this elusive Hall of Famer.
