This lot consists of a the 11/20/78 issue of Shukan (Weekly) Baseball magazine and a traditional Japanese signing board (shikishi) autographed by Pete Rose and George Foster.
This special edition of the magazine contains the headline, "3000 vs. 800", referring to Rose's more than 3,000 hits at the time and Sadaharu Oh's 800 homers. The magazine includes a great deal of coverage, including photos, of the Cincinnati Reds, who opposed the All Japan Team and the Yomiuri Giants during the 17 game fall Tour. The Reds posted a 14-2-1 record during the competition. Most of the Big Red Machine was still intact in 1978. Rose, Johnny Bench, Tom Seaver, Ken Griffey Sr., George Foster, etc. are featured in the magazine. As for the big matchup of rivals, Rose hit .329 during the series with 25 hits. Oh hit only .208 with 2 home runs.
The shikishi was signed in Japan during the 1978 Reds Tour. Rose and Foster signed it using a black Sharpie type pen.
Size: The magazine is 7 1/4" x 10 1/8" and has 128 pages. The shikishi is 9 1/2" x 10 3/4"
Condition: Magazine--Vg/Ex. Shikishi--Autographs 8 out of 10. The shikishi itself exhibits foxing.
