Here we see Shigeo Nagashima, Mr. Giants & Mr. Baseball, on a high grade card issued in his rookie season. All the pre-season hype about Nagashima proved to be accurate, as Nagashima was named Central League Rookie of the Year, and went on a spectacular 17 year career. On this card, Nagashima shares the stage with Yomiuri Giants ace pitcher and Hall of Famer, Motoshi Fujita. 1958 was Fujita's second season in Japan Pro Baseball. That year, he won 29 games, with an ERA of 1.53. The young duo carried the Giants to the 1958 Central League pennant.
