Left hander Masaichi Kaneda is regarded by many as Japan Pro Baseball's greatest pitcher ever, racking up 400 wins and 4,490 K's in a career spanning the 1950s and '60s. In his prime, he was a power pitcher who also possessed a devastating curveball. He won at least 20 games in 14 consecutive seasons.
1951 was Kaneda's second Japan Pro Baseball season, and it was the first season in which he was a 20 game winner. Unfortunately, he was also a 20 game loser that year. He led the Central League in innings pitched and strikeouts. However, he also led the league in walks. Eventually, his control improved greatly, allowing him to post otherworldly statistics annually.
