During our 37 years of buying, selling and auctioning Japanese baseball cards, we have never before seen an example of this card! The great Russian hurler, Victor Starffin, is seen wearing a 1948 Kinsei Stars uniform with a 1949 Stars cap. However, the card bears the notation, "Pacific League" on the bottom, along with Starffin's name, team and position. The Pacific League didn't exist until 1950. Moreover, few sets produced after 1950 came with league designations. Therefore, a 1950 year of production is most probable. Moreover, the card is nearly certain to have been issued as a first prize premium card on an unknown manufacturer's product display sheet. In any case, it's a super rare and beautiful card of this 300 game winning pitcher.
