This beautiful card of the great Russian hurler, Victor Starffin, is quite scarce. It has received a scarcity factor of R4 in Japanese Baseball Cards Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 4.0 by Gary Engel. This rating signifies that between six and ten examples of this card are known in the hobby. This is the first example that we have ever auctioned.
The gorgeous, close-up, colorized image of Starffin at the top of his windup contains the team name (Stars) and league name (Pacific League) along with his name and position (pitcher) printed in Japanese text at the card bottom. The reverse side is a series of "Who Am I?" hints, so that when the card is turned face down, game players can guess whose image is on the front.
