Some purchasers of cards from a JBR 6 taba like the one offered in Lot 4 of this auction were lucky enough to receive a 4 in 1 JBR 6 card with a first, second, or third prize winner stamp on the back. The lucky customer was then allowed to select a prize of multiple cards from a product display sheet like the one offered here.
This original JBR 6 Marusho Bromides display contains 3 uncut first prize panels of 80 images each, 6 uncut second prize panels of 16 images each, and 16 uncut 3rd prize panels of eight images each, for a total of 464 images.
There are 66 individual images in the JBR 6 set, 22 of which depict Japan Hall of Fame Members as follows: Sadaharu Oh (2 diff.), Wally Yonamine, Shigeo Nagashima (3 diff.), Isao Harimoto (2 diff.), Kazuhisa Inao, Yoshio Yoshida, Minoru Murayama, Masaaki Koyama, Kenjiro Tamiya (2 diff.), Yasumitsu Toyoda, Tadashi Sugiura (2 diff.), Katsuya Nomura, Yoshinori Hirose, Motoshi Fujita, Shinichi Eto and Tetsuya Yoneda. Also included are Chico Barbon and Joe Stanka.
As with virtually all display sheets, the three first prize panels consisting of 240 total images are not attached to the paper display. The other cards (4 in 1s) are glued to the sheet with a small dab, but most individual images do not contain glue. There are 14 second year images of Sadaharu Oh, 13 second year images of Isao Harimoto and 23 third year images of Shigeo Nagashima in this lot.
As the years pass, full display sheets of any issue are becoming more difficult to find.
Size: Display sheet-- 24" x 34". Individual cards--15/16" x 1 1/2"
Condition: Cards--Most cards would be Nm/Mt or Mint if cut from a sheet or panel. The sheet holding the cards is in Ex condition, which is outstanding when compared to the typical display sheet found today.
