The 2021 season was Yoshinobu Yamamoto's breakout year in Japan Pro Baseball. He went 18-5 with a microscopic 1.39 ERA. He won the Pacific League MVP award. He won the Sawamura Award (Japan Cy Young). He won a Best 9 award. He even won a Golden Glove award for his fielding prowess on the mound! He was just as good over the next two seasons. No wonder the Dodgers shelled out so much money to sign him! When healthy, Yamamoto had an outstanding season with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024. We forecast a great career in MLB for one of Japan's all time pitching greats.
