The 1973 season may have been Sadaharu Oh's best. He led the Central League with a .355 batting average and 51 homers. His OPS was an amazing 1.258! The batting average was his single season best. He won the C.L. MVP award, was named to the Best 9 team, and received the Diamond Glove award for his fielding at first base. And the Giants won the pennant (and Japan Series, too)!

The 1973 Calbee sets were the first of what is now a 52 year run of Calbee Japan Pro Baseball player sets. Seven examples of this card have been graded by PSA. Two cards (including this one) have been graded PSA 8, with one PSA 9. SGC has graded only one example, which received a grade of SGC 5. CGC has not graded a single JC 2 #297 Oh card.

It is difficult to find high grade Calbee cards from the 1970s and 80s, as most cards ended up with white tips at the corners.
