Bromides were generally sold in hanging bundles called "taba". Each taba consists of many single card paper "packs", composed of pieces of newspaper tied together with a string. A thin cardboard cover has a sample card affixed to it. When the purchaser requested a "pack", the candy store owner removed a random pack from the taba. The purchaser was then able to open the pack to see which card he or she had received. In this case, each pack contains one four-in-one bromide from the 1960 JBR 6 set.
There are 66 individual images in the JBR 6 set, 22 of which depict Japan Hall of Fame Members as follows: Sadaharu Oh (2 diff.), Wally Yonamine, Shigeo Nagashima (3 diff.), Isao Harimoto (2 diff.), Kazuhisa Inao, Yoshio Yoshida, Minoru Murayama, Masaaki Koyama, Kenjiro Tamiya (2 diff.), Yasumitsu Toyoda, Tadashi Sugiura (2 diff.), Katsuya Nomura, Yoshinori Hirose, Motoshi Fujita, Shinichi Eto and Tetsuya Yoneda. Also included are Chico Barbon and Joe Stanka.
Each card in the taba contains four images, so if you opened the entire taba, you would have cards containing about 450 different images. You would expect to get six or seven copies of each of the 66 images on average, which would mean more than 10 Sadaharu Ohs and 15 Shigeo Nagashimas!
This is the first JBR 6 taba that we have ever offered during our more than 35 years in business!
Size: Each 4 in 1 card is 1 7/8" x 3". Each image is 15/16" x 1 1/2".
Condition: Most cards inside the taba should be Nm/Mt or better. The taba itself is Vg/Ex and unopened.
