Each year during the late 1950s and early 1960s, a new edition of these dice game cards with samurai warriors on the back was produced. These sets were most likely presents included with a youth magazine. The cards found in this lot were printed either in 1956 or 1957. Based on our experience with other years of this card type, we are guessing that the cards in this lot comprise about half of a complete set.
Japan Hall of Fame members in this lot include Tetsuharu Kawakami (God of Batting), Takehiko Bessho (lifetime 300 game winner), Tatsuro Hirooka (Iron Shogun), Ryohei Hasegawa, Michio Nishizawa and Yoshio Yoshida. Other cards are Fujio-Giants, Aota and Doi-Whales, Inoue-Dragons, Hakota and Ukai-Swallows, and Watanabe (inf.)-Tigers.
