JCM 143 cards are incredibly rare. Japanese Baseball Cards Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 3.0 has assigned a scarcity factor of R5 to the set, indicating that five or fewer copies of each card are known to exist. The bookmark style cards have a form on the back which may be used by a student to fill out his or her class schedule.

Hajime Takahashi was a star pitcher for Tokyo Imperial University in the Tokyo Big Six University League from 1930 to 1932. He captained the team in 1932. However, the most interesting facet of Takahashi's college baseball career is that he actually started it at rival Hosei U. and then transferred to Tokyo U. This was hardly ever, if ever done. In fact, in response to Takahashi's move, no further transfers between Big Six baseball teams were allowed until 1999!
