This is one of the earliest Shigeo Nagashima shitajikis that we have ever encountered. A shitajiki is a colorful plastic sheet that is placed between a student's writing paper and school desk, so as not to scratch the desk while the student is writing. Nagashima is seen here in a pose that was used on various 1958 baseball cards. The blue background is quite dramatic. The shitajiki was produced by the ART company.
