Takehiko Bessho was one of Japan's all time great pitchers. During a period that spanned 1942-1960, the right hander pitched for both the Nankai Hawks and Yomiuri Giants. His career record is impressive. He won two MVP awards and two Sawamura (Japanese Cy Young) awards. He won 310 games and had a lifetime ERA of only 2.18. In 1947, he won 30 games.
