This is the first time that we have ever been privileged to offer a JBR 122 Victor Starffin card at auction. He appears to be wearing a 1948 Kinsei Stars uniform in the picture. 1948 had been Starffin's first solid year on the mound since the end of World War II, as he won 17 games, lost 13 and had an ERA of only 2.17 for a poor Stars team that finished 25 1/2 games behind the first place Hawks. In 1949 both the Stars and Starffin performed better, with Starffin winning 27 games.

This card contains the number 4 stamped by the manufacturer on the otherwise blank backed card, indicating that the card entitled the bearer to select a JBR 122a 4th prize premium card mounted on a display sheet associated with the JBR 122 set.
