This is certainly an unusual item that sits at the intersection of mid-century American and Japanese baseball. The eight colorized photo images on this thin transfer sheet depict eight players. Those in the right-hand column were current MLB stars at the time. The four players are Hall of Famers George Kell, Luke Appling, Ted Williams and Stan Musial. The four Japanese in the left-hand column are Fumio Fujimura (HOF), Kazuo Yamamoto, Makoto Kozuru (HOF) and Kaoru Betto (HOF). The player's name, team and 1949 batting average are printed next to his image. The Japanese player batting averages are all correct. The American player average are not always accurate.
