Yasumitsu Toyoda was the shortstop for the Nishitetsu Lions from 1953 to 1964. He was a member of the Lions' famous "H Bomb Row" batting order. Toyoda led the team to the 1956 Pacific League Championship, winning the league batting title and Japan Series MVP award. The Lions were Japan Series champs in 1957 and 1958 also, with Toyoda batting .500 in the 1958 Series. Yasumitsu Toyoda finished his career with the Swallows and Atoms.
This card is undoubtedly a first prize winner card which is associated with an unknown bromide baseball card set. Toyoda is seen here wearing his 1954 Nishitetsu Lions uniform.
