Since the 1949 San Francisco Seals Tour of Japan was one of the first postwar peacetime cultural exchanges between the U.S. and Japan, there was a great deal of excitement in Japan leading up to the games. As a result, far more different types of baseball cards of San Francisco Seals players were produced in Japan than for any other U.S. Tour of Japan before or since.
This lot consists of two postcard sized cards, each containing images of several Seals players, with their names printed at bottom. The top card features (l to r) catchers Roy Jarvis and Gene Brocker, infielder Roy Nicely, and outfielder Reno Cheso. The bottom card depicts (l to r) pitchers Al Lien, Cliff Melton and Con Dempsey.
This is the first time we have ever seen these cards. Blank back cards.
Size: The top card is 4 5/8" x 3 1/4". The bottom card is 4 3/4" x 3 1/4".
Condition: Both cards are Ex/Mt to Nm.
