Following
a stellar career as a pitcher/infielder for Keio University, Shigeru Mizuhara
(1909-1982) played for the Yomiuri Giants from 1936-1942, as well as seven games
in 1950. His Hall of Fame playing career was followed by an even greater tenure
as a manager. He managed the Giants from 1950 to 1960, winning eight Central
League pennants and four Japan Series.
Kisaku
Yamakawa (1922-1981) played Japan Pro Baseball from 1940 to 1955. His best years were spent with the Yomiuri
Giants (1946-1951). During that period
he was the Giants’ starting third sacker.
Akiharu
Tezuka (1921-2018) played with the Giants from 1949 to 1954, mostly as a
utility infielder. He finished out his
pro career with the Taiyo Wales in 1955 and 1956.
