Big Six University star and immortal Yomiuri Giants manager, Shigeru Mizuhara (center) is flanked by third baseman Kisaku Yamakawa (left) and infielder Akiharu Tezuka (right).  All three have signed this 3rd prize winner bromide card in blue ink.

Following a stellar career as a pitcher/infielder for Keio University, Shigeru Mizuhara (1909-1982) played for the Yomiuri Giants from 1936-1942, as well as seven games in 1950. His Hall of Fame playing career was followed by an even greater tenure as a manager. He managed the Giants from 1950 to 1960, winning eight Central League pennants and four Japan Series.

Kisaku Yamakawa (1922-1981) played Japan Pro Baseball from 1940 to 1955.  His best years were spent with the Yomiuri Giants (1946-1951).  During that period he was the Giants’ starting third sacker.

Akiharu Tezuka (1921-2018) played with the Giants from 1949 to 1954, mostly as a utility infielder.  He finished out his pro career with the Taiyo Wales in 1955 and 1956.
