Tetsuharu Kawakami is wearing a 1951 Yomiuri Giants uniform in the photo.  He is certainly taking a massive cut at the ball!  At age 31, he stood at the pinnacle of his career as an active player.  His OPS of 1.031 was the highest of his career that season.  His team was leaving all the others in its wake.  He would continue his career until 1958, leading the Giants to pennant after pennant.
