We have seen this card only once before.  Michio Nishizawa is giving the pitcher a stern look as he awaits the next pitch.  The card itself certainly has an unusual design, as a wreath of yellow leaves borders the card, with a bow at bottom.  The card was originally a 1st prize winner card associated with an unknown bromide set.

In 1950, Nishizawa, who entered Japan Pro Baseball at age 15, belted 46 homers and drove in 146 runs in only 137 games, as his Chunichi Dragons team finished in second place in the Central League.  His impressive season resulted in his being named to the league Best 9 team at first base, beating out the immortal Tetsuharu Kawakami for the honor.

Blank back card

Size:  7 1/8” x 9 ½”

Condition:  Ex/Mt to Nm.  The card has a mark on the blank back from originally being mounted to a display sheet by the manufacturer.  All examples of this card will have similar damage.
