In our 34 years of purchasing, selling and auctioning Japanese baseball cards and memorabilia, we have never before seen this card! It is one of the few Japanese baseball card lenticular issues. It's nearly a pure card on the front, with only the Japanese text, "Giants Team Sadaharu Oh" intruding on the gorgeous image of Oh in his trademark flamingo batting stance. By moving the card, one can see Oh perform his famous leg lift in the batter's box. The back is a calendar for the first six months of 1974.

1974 was the year that the Yomiuri Giants' reign as Japan Pro Baseball champions ended after an incredible nine consecutive seasons. The Giants lost the Central League pennant to the Chunichi Dragons by only one percentage point! It was a virtual tie between the two teams, but since tie games are part of Japan Pro Baseball, the Dragons won by playing to 11 draws to the Giants' nine. Nevertheless, Oh didn't let his team's failure affect his performance in 1974, as he won the Triple Crown that season batting .332 with 49 homers and 107 RBIs in a 130 game season. He was also named Central League Most Valuable Player.

Size: 2 1/4" x 2 3/4"

Condition: The lenticular side of the card is in outstanding condition. On the reverse side, the upper edge contains a small dent. Overall--Ex to Ex/Mt
