Long before the advent of video games, the Nintendo Co. was known for producing playing cards.  This traditional deck of cards, made by Nintendo, was created almost certainly in conjunction with the 1968 St. Louis Cardinals Tour of Japan. Each playing card has three logos on the back. The St. Louis Cardinals logo was used from 1966 to 1997. The MLB logo was first used in 1968. The National League Logo was introduced in 1957 and was changed in 1969. Thus, the year of issue can be pinpointed to 1968.

The lot consists of an unused deck of cards in a plastic case. The case contains the Japanese text, "St. Louis Cardinals", in raised plastic lettering. The words "ALL PLASTIC" and "Nintendo", in English, also appear on the case.  The deck is still sealed in its original plastic wrapper and includes the original Japanese government playing cards stamp. Also included is a sheet printed in Japanese entitled "How to Play Cards". There is also an extra card, printed in English, entitled "International Contract Bridge Score".

The Cardinals played 18 games in Japan during the fall of 1968, winning 13 and losing 5.

Size: Regular playing card size

Condition: Cards are Mint in the original wrapper. The plastic case has a few minor scratches.
