This lot contains 29 of the original 32 cards. The three that are missing are Akinoumi (future Yokozuna), Oshio and Ayawaka. Five of the rikishi whose cards appear in this lot were yokozuna (grand champions) at the time, or became yokozuna later, including all time great Futabayama.

Futabayama won 12 tournament championships during an era when there were only two such annual competitions. He had a 69 bout consecutive winning streak--a record that still stands today. And the day he finally lost a match, he was suffering from amoebic dysentery at the time. Moreover, he achieved these feats despite the fact that he was blind in one eye!

The five yokozuna in the set are pictured here (top row, left to right) Minanogawa, Futabayama, Terukuni (bottom row) Maedayama (left), Haguroyama (center). Blank backed cards. This set is designated as S411 - 1941 Aomido Kokugikan Color Set in Ryan Laughton's sumo card book.

Size: Each card is 1 3/4" x 2 3/4".

Condition: A few cards are creased, but nearly all are Ex, Ex/Mt, or Nm.
