The 1967 Kabaya-Leaf Set is possibly the most popular set among collectors of both Japanese and American cards. The cards from this Japanese issue were originally brought to the United States by legendary collector, Mel Bailey. The JF 4 set was the first Japanese baseball card set that was similar in size and style to Topps baseball cards, and proved to be beloved by American collectors. Unlike Topps cards, the Kabaya Leaf cards are scarce. Mr. Bailey imported fewer than 150 examples of most cards, and even fewer of the rest. Today, the cards are seldom seen in Japan, as they proved not to be too popular there at the time of issue. As a result, it is quite difficult to complete a Kabaya Leaf set card by card.

This lot of Yomiuri Giants player cards will help either a Giants fan or set collector to add to his/her Kabaya Leaf collection. The cards which comprise this lot are #5 Minoru Nakamura, #7 Akira Takahashi, #9 Isao Ohashi, #15 Keisuke Senda, #16 Yukinobu Kuroe, #19 Akira Kunimatsu, #20 Toshimitsu Suetsugu. All cards are in nice condition, and several would probably receive strong grades if professionally graded.
