Ryo Fukushima was a catcher for Keio University in 1928. He was thought to be a formidable batter, destined to be at the center of a powerful lineup with future Hall of Famers Saburo Miyatake and Minoru Yamashita. Alas, Fukushima became ill and passed away while still a student at Keio. Thus, he never reached his full baseball potential. As far as we know, JCM 168 is Fukushima's only known card. The only time we have previously offered this card was in our Auction #59. This card is in stronger condition than the Auction #59 example.

The JCM 168 set has received the scarcity factor designation of R5 in the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition 2.1 by Gary Engel, meaning that five or fewer copies of each card in the set are known.
