Taira Fujita was a left handed hitting shortstop (and later first baseman) who played 19 seasons for the Hanshin Tigers (1966-1984). He was named to seven Central League Best 9 teams and won three Diamond Gloves during his Japan Pro Baseball career. He finished his career with 208 home runs and a .286 lifetime batting average, to go with 2,064 hits, which qualified him for membership in the Meikyukai (Golden Players Club). He won the Central League batting title in 1981 with a .358 batting average.
The 1979 JY 8 Yamakatsu card of Fujita offered here grades PSA 10 (1 of 2). His portrait, as seen on the card, and the perfect grade makes this a desirable addition to any Hall of Fame/Meikyukai player collection.
