This is a seldom seen Sadaharu Oh rookie card from the JCM 69 Red Pitching Grip Back menko set. We have offered only one other example at auction, and that was back in 2011. The number 2 stamped by the manufacturer on the card back indicates that this card was redeemable for a second prize on a JCM 69 display sheet. This second prize was most likely an uncut panel of four JCM 69 cards. Oh batted only .161 with an OPS of .579 in his rookie year, appearing in 94 games. Who knew at the time that this card would ultimately become the most valuable card in the JCM 69 set by far!
