These cards were inserted into an unknown 1951 children's magazine. Readers were urged to "cut out the cards and use them" according to the Japanese text at lower right on the front of the sheet. The card backs contain the player name and a place for a student to fill out his/her school schedule. Even though the cards seem to be "school schedule cards", they are described at upper right on the front as "shiori" or bookmark cards.

Not only have we never before seen an uncut sheet of these cards, but we have seen only one of the seven cards as a single in the past. That is the Fumio Fujimura card (top center) which we previously auctioned as a single card in 2003. All seven players in the set are Japan Hall of Famers. They are: (top row, left to right) Shigeru Sugishita, Fumio Fujimura, Atsushi Aramaki (center card) Tetsuharu Kawakami (bottom cards, left to right) Kaoru Betto, Tokuji Iida, Takehiko Bessho.

The winner of this lot will be the only person we know of who possesses a copy of this uniquely styled card set.

Size: Uncut sheet--6 3/4" x 10 1/8". Individual cards are various sizes.

Condition: The sheet is Ex/Mt. Most individual cards would be Mint if cut carefully from the sheet.
