Before bringing his San Francisco Seals to Japan in 1949 as the team's manager, Lefty O'Doul had already participated as a player during the U.S. Major League All Star Tours of Japan in 1931 and 1934. O'Doul is identified as the Seals' manager at upper right on the front of this card, with his name in Japanese katakana printed vertically at lower right.

The reverse side of every card in the JCM 45 set depicts a different mamber of the Seals or All Japan team than the front. The back of this card shows All Japan team player Masayasu Kaneda. Kaneda was an outfielder for the Hanshin Tigers from 1942 to 1957. A left handed batter and a fleet footed runner, the 5' 7", 150 lb. Kaneda put up some big numbers in the late 1940s and early 1950s. He batted over .300 six times. In 1947, he once hit for the cycle.
