Following his career as the most influential American player in the history of Japanese baseball (1951-1962), Wally Yonamine, winner of three Central League batting championships, seven consecutive Best 9 awards and an MVP, was a manager and a coach in Japan Pro Baseball. In 1986, he was a coach for the Nippon Ham Fighters. This game worn jersey dates from that 1986 season.

Manufactured by Tamazawa, the jersey includes all appropriate tags. This colorful uniform top has a label stating that it is the Fighters "A type" jersey for 1986. Yonamine's uniform number 85 is also on one of the tags. An "Order Made" tag is also sown in. Yonamine's name is prominently displayed on the back of the jersey.

Traditionally, Japan Pro Baseball equipment is considered to be property of the team that issued it, and is not allowed to be removed from the clubhouse by the player or anyone else. Therefore, uniforms from the 1980s are extremely scarce. We have never seen a jersey or uniform from Wally Yonamine's playing days. Therefore, if you want a jersey from this Hawaiian superstar, this coach's jersey may be your only chance.

Size: Yonamine was about 5' 9", 185 lbs.

Condition: Game used with light wear.
