A sugoroku is a colorful, large sheet of paper which is used like a game board. Each segment is similar to a "square" in many American board games. Each player has a piece that is moved around the sugoroku from square to square, according to the results of dice rolls.

Over the decades we have previously offered 13 different baseball themed sugoroku, but they were all of post World War II vintage. This sugoroku, printed on October 25, 1929, is by far the oldest that we have ever offered.

The images within the 15 circles and the home plate "championship" image depict generic players wearing typical university baseball uniforms of the era. The piece is a fine example of Japanese art which depicted baseball in Japan during this era.

Size: 30" x 21"

Condition: Would be in perfect shape, but for a few minor edge tears, mostly at the folds. (The sugoroku was issued in the folded state.)
