This set of three cards was distributed with the February 1931 issue of Yakyukai Magazine.

Takeo Tabe (upper left) is known as the "Phantom of Pro Baseball." After an outstanding career at Meiji U., Tabe signed with the Dai Nippon Tokyo Baseball Club which later became the Yomiuri Giants. He was a part of their 110 game barnstorming Tour of the U.S., in which the Japanese team played many U.S. major and minor league teams. However, following the Tour, on the eve of the first Japan Pro Baseball season, he quit the Giants and never played in the Japan Pro League. Tabe was killed in action during World War II at Okinawa.

Osamu Mihara (upper right) was a star second baseman for Waseda University in the late 1920s and early 1930s. In 1934 he played against Ruth, Gehrig, et al during their Japan Tour. Mihara became a manager in 1947. In 1949, he led the Giants to one of their greatest seasons ever. Later, as manager of the Nishitetsu Lions, Mihara won three straight Japan Series titles. He then moved on to the Taiyo Whales, where he won another championship.

After winning the National High School Baseball Championship at Koshien in 1926 representing Takamatsu High School, Kiyokazu Igawa (bottom) joined high school teammate and future hall of famer Shigeru Mizuhara on the Keio U. team from 1927 through 1933. Igawa, a left fielder and sometime cleanup hitter, had his best seasons in the early 1930s.
