This set will be included in the next edition of the Japanese Baseball Card Checklist & Price Guide, Vintage Edition by Gary Engel. At this point, we know of 10 cards of baseball players, and a similar number of non-sports subjects in the set. This uncut sheet includes five cards of baseball players (four different). The standout card depicts the God of Batting, Tetsuharu Kawakami in mid career. Kawakami was Japan's best hitter of the 1940s and 1950s. Later he became the most successful manager in the history of Japan Pro Baseball. The other Hall of Famer card features Noboru Aota. Aota was a five time home run champion and a hard partier, fighter and gambler. It is said that his purported gambling activities delayed his induction into the Japan Baseball Hall of Fame for many years. Two cards of Hiroshi Tsujii and one card of Takeshi Doigaki, the best catcher of the era, round out the baseball contingent.

Size: Each card is 1 13/16" x 2 3/4". The sheet is approximately 9" x 5 3/4"

Condition: Sheet--Vg. Most individual cards would be about Vg if cut from the sheet except for one of the Tsujii cards which has a small piece missing at bottom.
