This is only the second example of this card that we have ever encountered. It is unusual in that Aota is pictured in his 1947 Hankyu Braves uniform, but with a 1947 Yomiuri Giants "G" drawn crookedly onto his cap. It is likely that this card was produced early in 1948 to capture the enthusiasm surrounding Aota's signing with the Giants for the 1948 season. The Japanese text at the bottom reads "Giants Aota". Interestingly, the Giants changed their cap logo for the 1948 season, so the false logo added by the manufacturer ended up being out of date!

Noboru Aota, an outfielder, was a five time league home run champion, six time all-star and five time Best 9 award winner. HIs glory years were spent with the Yomiuri Giants. A hard partier, fighter and gambler, Aota had a relatively short career, retiring at age 34 after several ordinary seasons. It is said that his purported gambling activities delayed his induction into the Japan Baseball Hall of Fame for many years. Blank backed card.

Size: 6 7/8" x 8 7/8"

Condition: Good due to creasing at the upper corners and excess paper and glue on the back due to having previously been pasted in an album.
